I recently switched from store bought soap that left my skin feeling dry and itchy, to a better product, an all natural bath soap. This soap had a peppermint scent, and it felt great on my skin. The menthol actually could be felt on my skin. The soap left my skin feeling soft and smooth, it actually felt like it was healing my dry skin. The old soaps did nothing but annoy and irritate my skin, and did not have a vast amount of scents that natural soap does.
If you have sensitive skin, natural soap is ideal. Natural soap does not contain chemicals and preservatives like most store bought bars do. The store bought non-natural soaps usually have animal fat, alcohol, esthers (which are known to cause cancer), fillers, wax, and other oils.
Since the natural soap bars do not contain animal fats, they have a positive effect on your tub and shower. This would be the lack of soap scum that you would usually find from using commercial soaps. Also, with the lack of harsh chemicals that are found in commercial soap bars, the natural soap does not take away the natural oils in your skin. The end result of this is softer feeling skin, which is smooth and not irritated.
The beauty of having natural oils in these types of soaps is they are so very healthy for your skin. There are natural oils such as coconut, palm, sunflower, castor and soya been oils, rice bran etc. The essential oils added to the natural oils create a pleasant scent with healthy results. The handmade natural soaps are usually made at cool temperatures. This helps preserve the natural state of the oils and essential oils. There is a process called saponification, this is where the natural glycerin is created. Natural handmade soap has a different feel and texture compared to commercial soaps. It is soft and retains not only the scents, but the oils as well.
If you have never tried handmade natural soap, it is a must. Try one bar, and you will never go back to commercial soap again. With so many scents available to choose from, you will not know whether to eat them or use them as soap! Some of these scents are so real they smell like you could eat them. The commercial soap bars lack the scents and the feel of a natural soap bar. It pays to buy natural, and in the end your skin will love it too.
