Toshiba Satellite T115 Netbook Review

My most recent review of the latest Netbook/notebook is the Toshiba Satellite Netbook. Or is it a notebook. Toshiba calls it a notebook, however, it does not have the usual notebook requirements of having a optical DVD drive. This did not deter me, however, because with its 11.6 inch high definition screen, and sleek, black casing, I loved it immediately. The style of the netbook/notebook is beautiful. Very high quaility, and the outer case is shiney, however, has a design to make it not a haven for fingerprints and smudges. The screen itself is high quality, with its 11.6 inch wide screen high def, TruBright technology.

The difference on where this may be considered a notebook would be the size of the netbook/notebook itself. With the size being 11.3 inches wide, 8.3 inches in depth, and 1.35 inches thick. Its small, but a bit larger than most netbooks out there. The processor is not your typical Atom N processor, but the Intel Celeron 743 processor with the speed of 1.3 Ghz. It comes standard with Windows 7, and a decent sized 250GB hard drive, a webcam, and 2 Gb or of RAM.

There are two incredible points to this netbook/notebook that needs to be pointed out. The face recognition software that is part of the software package loaded on the computer. Its technology allows you to scan your face, and using that as the secure way of giving you access to your computer. No finger print scan, no password, just put your face in front of the webcam, and you have access. Very cool. Another interesting point is that while giving you a 6 cell battery, the battery life is an incredible 9 hours. I have not found a netbook or notebook that can last that long until now.

All in all, this laptop is sleek, sexy, and a powerful netbook/notebook. The jury is out on whether it is a notebook or a netbook. The price itself also leans towards the netbook prices of around $450. A great buy for a powerful computer. Here are the specs:
