The Nook Color A Great Alternative

If you just saw the Apple Ipad, before buy it and spend at minimum $500, consider the NOOKcolor as an alternative. There are plenty of reasons why you should do so. First, it has an incredible, 7 inch VividView color touchscreen, which allows for better and brighter reading. Did I mention Touchscreen? Yes, it is touch screen. Not only that, but it has a 16 million color high resolution display to create a very impressively clear image, sparkling text, and an incredible experience all around.

Another plus is the wide angle view. There is no glare that will make the screen unreadable. You can view the screen at almost any angle, and still have bright and clear view. The reduction of sun glare is a huge plus for this model.

Another great aspect of the NOOKcolor is the ability to switch from Portrait to Landscape view. Depending on what you are reading, you can change it quickly from portrait to landscape with a turn to your NOOK. This can add to the experience of reading, and also when you use Social networking such as Twitter or Facebook.

Having built in Wifi is a huge plus. It allows you to play games that are loaded on the NOOKcolor, along with listening to internet music via head jack or speakers. You can use the Quickoffice software, which allows you to view and update Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. PDF, ePub and Jpg files are also available, and you can personalize the NOOK with your own photos as wallpapers and screensavers.

Not only can you use Facebook, but you are able to import all your Google contacts, to be able to update your status, send articles or quotes, and share books. Stay connected to your social friends while reading, and always be in contact.

As usual, there are millions of books to choose from available. Up to 2 million. Most are from under $5.00 to $10. However, there are plenty that are free as well. You can also read at any local Barnes & Noble from their NOOKbooks for free, but only up to one hour per day.

All in all, this is a great alternative to buying an expensive Ipad. It is half the cost, with beauty, versatility, functionality, and durability.
