The Acer Aspire One Netbook
I have continued my addiction to technology by selling my most recent purchase of the Sony P-series netbook, to a larger, and more economically cheaper netbook. I got tired of scrunching down in front of the screen on the sony, and messing up typing from the smaller keyboard. And don't get me started on the mouse pointer. I think if it had a normal mouse on it, I would have kept it for ever, but to save on size, they opted for the pointer mouse. For me, it was too much.....
So, after selling it, I found my next perfect netbook! I recently purchased the new Acer Aspire One 11.6 inch netbook. I have been wanting to buy this netbook for some time. Not only is it the right size for me, with a keyboard that is large enough to actually type with, and a screen that is impressively bright and the right size, it is still small! I love it! The Acer has an 11.6 inch screen with the 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 Intel Atom processor and uses the Mobile Intel US15W Express Chipset. The only annoyance I found thus far is the it having Windows 7 Starter edition, and the ability to change the background is unavailable (see how to fix by clicking here: Windows 7 Starter Background)
Acer also decided to go with HD in this netbook, with a hard drive capacity of 250GB. Wi-fi at b/g speeds is included along with Bluetooth. The nice part here is that the netbook is also 3G capable allowing you to access the internet wherever you have a mobile phone signal.
It is exceptionaly sleek, with the glossy finish, and variety of colors to choose from. It measures 2.5cm in thickness, comes with the full-size Acer FineTip keyboard has flat, broad keys for enhanced typing comfort, and the AO751h features a soft-touch palm rest to increase typing comfort. It also has Dolby Pro Logic sound as well. The 11.6 inch display high-definition WXGA screen WXGA back-lit LED screen, and most impressive is this netbook runs for an impressive 8 hours on the 5200mAh battery. And do not forget there is a digital microphone and Acer Crystal Eye a webcam built into the frame for use of real-time video streaming, video chat and conference calling. It runs with 2 GB Ram, and has Windows Vista Basic! That is a step up for some, but not for others. I personally decided to take off Vista, and put on Windows XP Professional, and it runs incredibly fast! However, I do miss the look of Vista, so I may put it back on.
All in all, I am very impressed with the look and feel of this netbook. It did take some getting used to the size compared to the Sony, but I am excited to be using the latest from Acer.
